MARKET DRAYTON
With a wealth of timber framed buildings crowding narrow streets that have existed for centuries, Market Drayton is an absolute gem in North Shropshire, and is the largest of the area's four towns.
The town is famous as the place where Clive of India spent his formative years, and is claimed to be the home of gingerbread too.
Regular markets are held on Wednesdays, as they have been since the mid 13th Century when the town was granted its market charter, during the reign of Henry III.
For locals and visitors alike, Market Drayton offers timeless charm, interesting architecture and a superb range of shops and attractions. |
